New to Divetech & Lighthouse Point
Visit our new Coral Nursery.

Coral Nursery
Divetech's coral nursery consists of 2 PVC trees used to grow corals and one PVC tree left empty as a quarantine tree incase of any disease in the nursery. The process started by collecting small specimens of coral off of a healthy donor coral, chosen by the Department of Environment (DOE). After collection, the samples are hung on the PVC tree to grow and eventually be planted back onto a reef to help grow new reefs and help replenish existing reefs that may be suffering from damage. During their time in the nursery the coral fragments are maintained by cleaning any algae off the trees and coral fragments and removing predators, such as snails or fire worms. The nurseries are also monitored for disease and are measured frequently to track growth. After 9 months to 1 year, when the samples reach the desired size, they are removed from the PVC trees and are attached to the reef under DOE supervision using an Epoxy mix. These corals are no longer maintained once they leave the nursery and will thrive on their own in their natural environment.
