Announcing the Maka Underwater Photography Workshop

We're excited to announce the Maka Photography Workshop this October 20th - 28th. This eight day workshop includes lodging at the Kona Sheraton, a mix of 14 day and night dives, plus daily classroom sessions. Photographers Joshua Lambus and Will Whelan will instruct and work closely with students to develop underwater photography skills. Your Instructor

Your InstructorJoshua Lambus is an award winning photographer and videographer based on The Big Island of Hawaii. His photographs have been published in many magazines, books and calendars, including National Geographic, Sport Diver Magazine, Unterwasser and Scuba Diving Magazine.

Lambus' photography has won numerous awards, including 1st place in Nature's Best Windland Smith Rice Award's Oceans category. His works are displayed in museums around the world Including the Washington DC Smithsonian Natural History Museum, The Australian Museum, and the Natural history Museum of Venice.

The Curriculum

The CurriculumThe curriculum is comprehensive, and works students through a variety of different shooting styles and techniques. Topics include:

- Ambient light wide angle
- Strobes and mixed lighting
- Macro with strobes
- Night wide angle and macro
- Image cataloging with Adobe Lightroom
- RAW post-processing
- Publishing & printing images
- Video workflows
 

The Resort

The ResortStay at the luxurious Kona Sheraton Resort & Spa at Keauhou Bay. Designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, the Kona Sheraton is situated on the iconic lava rocks of the Kona coast, overlooking historic Keauhou Bay. Ocean view restaurants, an incredible pool with a 200-foot lava tube water slide, hot tubs, the Ho'ola Spa, and more round out this outstanding resort.

The resort is located at Keauhou Bay, where we'll launch the dive boat each morning. Wake up, have breakfast, and walk from your room to the boat. Classroom sessions will be hosted in a private conference space.
