Ideal Weather Conditions: From October to May is the best time to go scuba diving in Thailand at any west coast scuba diving destination.
Rich Marine Life: November is when marine life is most abundant and active in Thailand. Whether you’re hoping to swim alongside majestic whale sharks or witness the graceful movements of manta rays.
Perfect Water Temperatures: The water temperature during this period hovers around a comfortable 27-29°C (80-84°F), making it ideal for long dives without the need for heavy wetsuits.
Unlike many other spots in Thailand which are easily accessed through day trips, these islands are best dove by liveaboard. Whale sharks, manta rays and other pelagics are spotted here! Keep in mind the Similan Islands are only open from October to May.
On the west coast, Krabi, Koh Lanta and Koh Phi Phi have clear skies and calm, glassy water from November to April. Boats operate all day, every day during these months and are a fantastic way to visit the best dive sites and most isolated beaches.
Numerous dive sites here offer stunning underwater landscapes with diverse marine life, from majestic manta rays and whale sharks to tiny macro critters like seahorses and ghost pipefish. Accessible year-round, Phuket features gentle currents, perfect for divers of all levels.
This famous dive site is often regarded as one of the best sites for whale shark sightings. With few other pinnacles nearby, Sail Rock is a magnet for fish. Day trips available from Koh Samui and Koh Phangan.
