	Join a global classroom and participate in real ecology projects in the seven-week online course, Tropical Coastal Ecosystems
			Tropical coastal ecosystems such as coral reefs, mangroves, and seagrass beds provide goods and services for hundreds of millions of people, particularly in developing countries. Unfortunately, human activities are leading to their global decline. In partnership with the online learning platform edX, the University of Queensland is offering a free course on the biology, ecology, and preservation efforts of these critical habitats. Led by Professor Ove Hoegh-Guldberg and delivered by world experts in coastal ecology, this seven-week Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) starts April 28th and is designed for recreational divers, resource managers, students, and anyone with an interest in coastal ecology and marine conservation.   MOOC students will have access to lectures available exclusively through this course, along with information about cutting-edge research projects such as the Global Reef Record. Weekly discussion boards will facilitate direct dialouge between students and current University of Queensland researchers. ‘Tropical Coastal Ecosystems’ will conclude with the opportunity to perform virtual field work in which students will examine underwater images and categorise different marine life forms and habitats.   Registration is Open Now!
